Welcome to the web site for Orchid Species Plus. We hope you enjoy your visit.Orchid Species Plus is a family owned and operated nursery in Kingston, a small rural town in central Victoria, about 30 minutes drive from Ballarat. We have been growing orchids for over 40 years but the hobby has completely taken over and we have been operating as a full time nursery for nearly18 years.

During the ensuring 40+ years we have become very interested in the collecting and conservation of species orchids from all over the world and now boast one of the largest commercial collections in Australia. Our interest in the conservation of endangered species sees us regularly pollinating and producing seed from our most treasured species orchids, raising this seed and making these rare gems availably to our customers in Australia and to the rest of the world.

We regularly import our own consignments of orchids from places as far flung as the Philippines, India, Malaysia and South America. We control all aspects of the importation process and believe we have one of the most efficient importation procedures of any Australian orchid nursery. This means we get the newest species for our customers first.

Our collection contains many hundreds of genera but we have botanically significant collections of species Bulbophyllum, Coelogyne, Dracula, Masdevallia, Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium and Maxillaria. So if there’s a hard to find species you’re looking for, we are sure to have it and if we don’t, we can try and get it for you.

We also attend many orchid fairs so check our events pages to see when we will be heading your way. Our nursery is open by appointment to both individuals and clubs alike. We have barbeque facilities for larger groups and are happy to provide workshopping visits. Just let us know in advance as we have many commitments and may not be available at short notice.
